HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 04 06 Village Council Reorganizational MinutesREORGANIZATIONAL MEETING VILLAGE COUNCIL VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO APRIL 6, 1970 The Reorganizational meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Mayor Jordan. A Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Mr. Tilson. A Prayer was offered by Reverend Lallathin. Roll Call: Mayor, Clifford Jordan Vice -Mayor, David. Tilson Attorney, Thomas Freeman Councilmen: Granville Brown Charles Rowell Incoming Councilmen.- Wayne ouncilmen:Wayne Miller Pasquale DelVillaggio Richard Allen A motion was made by Mr. Tilson that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 2, 1970 be approved as corrected. Seconded by Mr. Rowell and Mr. Brown. Motion carried. A motion was made by Mr. Rowell that the minutes of the Special Workshop Meeting on March 25, 1970 stand approved as corrected. Seconded by Mr. Brown. Discussion. Motion carried. Re -Elected Mayor, Clifford Jordan, was sworn in by Attorney, Thomas Freeman. Pasquale DelVillaggio, Group 2, 2 years Wayne Miller, Group 4, 2 years Richard Allen, Group 5, 1 year, were sworn in as a group as councilmen, in their respective groups, by Attorney Freeman. Police Chief, Lynn Lyon, Jr., was also sworn in by Attorney, Thomas Freeman. Orlando Vol. Fire Dept., for Jan., Feb., and March for 965 billings at $.20 which amounted to $193.00. A check was sent to Sidney Vihlen for his fees for Jan., Feb., & March in the amount of $73.05. Health. Beautification & Election Report, Mr. Rowell reporting: On election, Norma Lan, Marg Hyatt, Frances Watson and Mary T. Norton each received 14.00 for their work on Election Dag. The results of the election were: Mayor - 2 years: Clifford Jordan 80 David Tilson 43 Granville Brown 2 Councilman -Group 2-2 years: Pasquale DelVillaggio 96 Councilman -Group 4-2 years: Wayne Miller 94 Councilman -Group 5-1 Year; Richard Allen 65 Charles E.Kelley 58 A copy of the ballot is attached. Recreation and Zoning Report, Mr. Rowell reporting: Zoning B ard hada meezing'April 3, 1970 and discussed rezoning, but the meeting was postponed until further notice for more in- formation. Annexation was discussed. A motion was made by Mr. Brown that we draft Resolution 82 and present it to the family of Mr. Marshall. Seconded by Mr. Rowell and Mr. Tilson. Discussion. Motion carried. Mr. Brown reported that he had enjoyed working with the council for the past 4J years. "It is not a bed of roses", he commented, "but if you stick with it, it all works out in the end. Good luck to the new members." Mr. Tilsonts farewell wishes were, "God speed and good wishes. I have been a resident for 9J years and served the village for the past I years. I hope that you will give your best and that you will be duly rewarded, not in terms of financial success, but that you have done your best to help your fellow man." APRIL 6, 1970 PAGE 4 The Mayor thanked the two gentlemen for the work they have done and said we would pass a resolution of thanks and gratitude for these gentlemen. A motion was made by Mr. Brown that the meeting be adjourned at 8:29 p.m. Seconded by Mr. Tilson. Motion carried.
