The meeting was he1e on September 8th instead of September 1st due to Labor Day. Police and Fire, Mr. Tilson: Fire: 1 Drill, 6 man hours; 1 business meeting, 8 man hours; 2 maintenance, 4 man hours; Total man 'hours, 18; 16 members. Motion was made b~ Mr. Brown to have the Public Hearing Thursday, October 2, 7:30 P.M. Motion diei for lack of a second. Drainage: Open drainage ditches were shown covering the proposed new areas of the Master Plan presenteei by Gulf American. Mr. Freeman, Mr. 00nk1in ani Ma,.or Jordan were very much opposeei to open ditches ani advised against them. Mr. Moehle saii there wouli have to be some open ditches, but a lot of the ditches wou1i be grass,. swails, 2! feet deep, 4! feet along the roads. It was pointei out that a 15 foot easement right of wa,. would be needei to clean the ditches. NDrth Or1aneio has an Ordinance (#35), passei Januar,. 1,1964, making open Iiitches illegal in the Village, because of a Health Hazar.. 1\ats, Snakes ani other varmins would be a continuous fight. Mr. Tilson that we grant an exception of Ordinance #35, allowing Gulf American to have open iitches, only where open <<itches are absolutely necessary, ani swails when it is possible, instead of siie lot ditches. BE IT THEftEF01\E ~ESOLVED: that the Village of North Or1an_o specitica11,. solicit the co-operation of Gulf American Corporation in eliminating open ditches, where possible, ani in instances where this is not feasible to so construct them soas.to provide for eaay access and maintenance of same ani to facilitate cleaning and mowing, an. wherever possible to consider fencing easements to the ditches holding water.
