VILLAGE COUNCIL
JANUAII.Y 6, 1969
The Regular Session of the Villave Council of the Village of North Orlando
was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Clifford Jordan.
A Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by Vice-Ma~Tor Charles Rowell.

Motion was made by Mr. Tilson and seconded by Mr. Brown ~o delete the second
half of the first sentence of paragraph 5, Page 2 of the minutes of December 2,1968.
Unanimously approved by Council.
Motion was made byY~. Brown to delete parts of the second and third
sentences of .tJaragraph 6, Page 2. Seconded by Hr. Tilson. Unanimously approved
by Council.
Motion was made by ~x. Rowell and seconded by }~. Tilson to accept the
minutes as altered. Unanimously approved by Council.

Road and Bridge, Mr. Cronk reporting:
Clay has been put on Panama and the road has been graded. On New Years
Day a small sink hole WaS discovered on North Fairfax. It was filled in
partially, but it will need to be filled with cement and then covered with cold patch.
Finance, Mr. Brown reporting:
Mr. Brown gave a financial report for 1968. He will have the Auditor's report
for next month.
Police and Fire, Mr. Tilson reporting:

Health, Recreation and Election.. Mr. Keller reporting:
Garbage service doing good.
Registration book open for the March 18th Election.
Mayor's Report, Mr. Jordan reporting:

Mr. Jordan has been appointed to the Governing Board of the South Seminole
League of Municipalities.
The Refuse Service is having trouble collecting for their services.
Suggested some roads in the Ranchlands where there are no property owners
be closed off.
Participated in the Christmas Parade in Sanford and in North Orlando Christmas
Parade. Had the pleasure of lighting first Christmas tree in North Orlando.
Sentinel requested items of progress in the Village and ideas for the future.
The sale of homes in the Vi11a8e has been steady.
There are two more homes being built in the Ranchlands.
Mr. Jordan gave his thanks to the North Orlando Fire Department and the Fire
Department Auxiliary for their good work in the Village.

Motion WaS made by Mr. Rowell and seconded by Mr. Cronk that these bills
be paid. Unanimously approved by Council.
Barbara Dampier, from County Engineering office, discussed a large map for
the Village. She has access to the court house records and would be able to help
the Village in many ways. She would be willing to work for a retainer fee of
$50.00 per month.
A letter was read from the North Orlando Garden Club, thanking the Village
for their donation to help with expenses for the Christmas Lighting Contest.
A Christmas card was received from the Central Florida Fair, Inc.
A Christmas card was received from Chuck Holzman in Thailand.
A letter from Mr. Kurau of G..A. C. saying they were awaiting the requirerrents
for a piece of property on which a municipal building and fire station are to
be erected.
A petition was presented to the Council by Mr. Louis Skalsky, and signed
by he and several other residents on North Cortez and North Bombay. The petition
~ in protest to dogs disturbing the peace and being nuisances.
The county no longer has a humane society so there is no place to take the
r dogs if they are picked up.
The Animal Kingdpm owner is control officer for animals in the City of
Casselberry" on a no .1:ee basis. The owner of Animal Kingdom is to be contacted
to see if the same arrangements could be made for the Village of North Orlando.
Mr. Jordan showed Building plans that were drawn up by Mr. Hal Harris,
architect from Sanford.
G.A.C. has donated the land and Mr. Freeman suggested that the Building
Plans, estimated cost of construction and the means of Financing be sent to
G.A.C. as soon as possible.
Motion was made by Mr. Brown and seconded by Mr. Tilson that 25.00 be
donated to the North Orlando Garden Club for the Christmas lighting contest.
Unanimously approved by Council.
Mr. Tilson reported that General Electric no longer leased mobile units on
the 5 year basis. There was one General Electric unit that could be leased for
2 years with a 10% lease agreement which would be around 40.00 a month. Mr.
Tilson also told of 2 other units.
Mr. Tilson is to check on financing and make a report at the next meeting.
I""'" Motion was made by Mr. Brown authorizing commissioner Tilson to purchase
the General Electric mobile unit for a cost not to exceed $680.00 installed.
$180.00 to be paid down and 500.00 as a loan through the bank at a legitimate
fee for 1 year. If the loan cannot be made then the unit is to be purchased for
cash. Seconded by Mr. Cronk and unanimously approved by Council.

Mr. Brown discussed the consolidation of the local communities, asking the

A. letter was read from Mr. Harold Johnson, Attorney for the County
Commissioners of Seminole County, asking for the approval of having Herndon
Ambulance Service, Inc. serve within the jurisdiction of our municipality.
A motion was made by Mr. Brown to approve the use of Herndon Ambulance
Service. Seconded by Mr. Rowell and unanimously approved by Council.
A letter of resignation was read from Mr. Ned Julian, Jr. Village Judge.
Motion was made by Mr. Brown to accept Mr. Julian's resignation with
regrets. Seconded by Mr. Cronk and unanimously approved by Council.
A motion was made by Mr. Brown that Mr. Freeman sit in as Judge until a
new man is appointed. Seconded by Mr. Keller and unanimously approved by Council.
A motion was made by Mr. Tilson and seconded by Mr. Brown that the meeting
recess, 10:15 P.M.$ until the next Monday, January 13th, at 8 P.M. Unanimously
approved by Council.
