JUNE 24, 1968 The Special Session of the Village Council of the Village of North Orlando, Fla. was called to order at 7:55 P.M. by Mayor Clifford Jordan. The Group joined in a Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Roll Call: Mayor Clifford Jordan Attorney Tom Freeman Vice-Mayor Chuck Rowell Were all present. Councilman, Dick I.ongcore was absent. Councilmen: Granville Brown Allen Cronk Julian Keller Mr. Keller took over the llBeting to explain about the new Garbage Service. The Pittman Brothers, OWn and Felton, have a new packer and 3 trucks and feel that they can service this community well. Garbage pick-ups will be twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays. Trash will be picked up from the curb on Wednesdays. Service will start on. Monday, July First, 2.00 a month, billing to be at the Bl1d of each month. Twenty-Five Oents extra if trash has to be picked up from the back of the house. No limit to the nUlllber of cans and they may be any place you want them. The Pittman Brothers feel that there is no need for a performance bond since they do not collect in advance. Mr. Freeman will prepare a contract to be signed by the Pittman Brothers, on July First, Regular Meeting night. /""'" Motion was made by Mr. Keller to enter into contract with Pittman Brothers, for One (1) Year of Garbage Service, effective July 1st, 1968. Seconded by Mr. Cronk and Majority carried. Mr. R.D.Shinn, Maitland Police Chief, 5 years, Longwood Police Chief, 2 years, was introduced by Mayor Jordan. Mr. Shinn was hired by Mayor Jordan, as a patrolman" on a part time basis, to serve in the evenings, while the North Orlando Police Department is short on man power. Mr. Shinn will be paid $2.00 an hour while serving. Mr. R.D. Shinn was sworn in by Attorney Freeman, as a part time patrolman for the Village of North Orlando, Florida. The phone bill for Thomas Hennigan, which was presented to the council, was discussed. Motion was made by Mr. Rowell tp pay Mr. Hennigan the $8.26 for his phone bill. Seconded by Mr. Cronk. There were 3 ItAyes" and 1ltHolt. On Rol1 Call vote: Mr. Rowell, "Aye"; Mr. Brown, "No"i Mr. Cronk, ".lyelt. Mr. Keller sustained from voting and then voted IINo" when told he was required to vote, according to the Charter. Mayor Jordan broke the tie and voted "No". Motion failed. r- Mr. Brown explained his conversation with Mr. Moro, representative of Nationwide. There was nothing more to do than to pay the $91.00 requested. Motion Was made by Mr. Brown and seconded by Mr. Keller to pay the $91.00. Majority carried. The Seminole County Chamber of Comerce is selling front end tags for the cars. Theysell for 20~ apiece in lots of 100. Motion was made by Mr. Brown and !Seconded by Mr. Rowell, to order 100 tags, $20.00, for free distribution to the Village. -- PAGE 2 JUNE 24, 1968 ,..- Motion was made by Mr. Rowell tp pay $70.00 to the Insurance Center for Liability Insurance for the recently purchased truck and $5.50 for transfer of title and permanent tag. Seconded by Mr. Keller and majority carried for the motion. Motion was made by Mr. Keller and seconded by Mr. Brown that the meeting adjourn at 9:15 P.M. Majority carried. ~:4:~ Helen F.
