AUGUST 19, 1966 A Special Meeting of the Village Council of the Village of North Orlando, Florida met on August 19, 1966. The meeting was called to order by Vice }fuyor Brown at 7:30 P.M. On Roll Call the following were present: Vice Mayor Brorm,. Councilmen Wetz, Rowell and 11clntosh. :Hayer Fuller and Attorney Orville Johnson were absent. Councilman Jack Hipps has moved from the Village. The reading of the minutes and the reports were dispensed with for this meeting. A letter of resignation was read from Jack Hipps. Motion was made by Mr. Wetz and seconded by Mr. McIntosh to accept this resignation. Majority carried. Motion was made by Mr. Wetz to appoint Mr. Granville Brown (by Resolution) as Councilman of Group 2 (unexpired term). Seconded by Hr. Rowell. Majority carried. ",..... The Resolution will be read and Hr. Granville Brmm will be given the Oath of office at the next Regular meeting on September 12th. A letter of resignation was read from Larry Phillips. A motion was made by Mr. Wetz and seconded by Mr. Rowell to accept this resignation. Discussion was held. }~. Phillips later had asked to have his resignation withdrawn. An article appearing in the Sanford pal'er was read, however, saying that he, }IT. Phillips, wished to be withdrawn as soon as possible. Mr. Ed Snmrt offered his services along with Bob Stephenson's, Stephenson working days and Smart working nights, 2 policemen for the price of one. Majority carried, 3 to 1, to accept Phillips resignation. Hotion was made by Vrr. -wetz that the Council employ someone to meet school busses during school until a regular policeman can be employed. Seconded by Hr. R.owe1l and majority carried. Hotion was made by Hr. \ietz that Hr. Phillips be relieved of his duties as of noon, August 20th. In P.rf. all Village equipment be turned in. That }~. Phillips check be held until all phone bills are paid. Hotion died for a second. ,..,..... Hotion was made by 111'. Wetz that Hr. Phillips employment terminate Saturday noon, but that he be paid until the end of the month. All equipment 'he turned in no later than Ifednesday, the 24th. That the phone service to the house be discontinued on Honday, the 22nd. That his check Ifill be paid to him when all equipment and records are turned over to Police Commissioner and all outstanding bills are satisfactorily paid., Seconded by Hr. McIntosh and majority carried. The Village Clerk was advised to put ads in paper as it was deemed necessary. -. " - SPSCIAL lZ:CTING AUGUST 19, 1966 - Motion was mt.lde by Hr. Rowe 11 and seconded by Mr. Wetz that Richard Harter and 11r. Ra~h Johnson be appointed to the Zoning Board for 1 year. A letter is to be sent to each of them asking them to please come to the Regular Council meeting on September 12th. Letters would also be sent to 11r. Ferguson and HI's. Brandeburg. Motion was made by}lf..r. ROWBll and seconded by l1r. 'I'letz to pay 100.00 to David Joyce (Dave's Auto Service) for repairs on the tractor. Majority carried. li'ire Chief Hahn discussed plans that the Fire 1I3partment build a two bay garage for the fire trucks and later t-lhen the Village is able to add on to tl building. The Clerk was instructed to contact Mr. Johnson and have hilt write to Silver Creek asking them if the 2 bay garage would be considered a permanent bui.lding so the Village could receive the deed to the property. The Clerk will ask Mr. Peck to write a letter in regards to the sprayer, whether i.t will be leased to the Village or donated. The Road Grader will be checked and a bid put on it later. l1otion was made by Mr. Wetz and seconded by Mr. Rowell that the meeting adjourn at 9:10 P.M.
