HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962 09 15 Village Council Special Minutes iIf~~"'-"-"-'" ----.,.".........- " - - # I PROCEEDINGS AT SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO, FLORIDA SEPTEMBER 15, 1962, at 11:00 A.M. t' Mayor Fasula called the meeting to order. In attendance were: Mayor Fasula, Councilmen Anderson, Memory and Stripling. The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider for adoption Ordinance No. 23 providing for tax on sale of cigarettes in the Village. Councilman Stripling presented the ordinance and moved that it be adopted. Councilman Anderson seconded the motion, and the vote being unanimon~ the ordinance was adopted. The Mayor stated that another ordinance known as Ordinance No. 24 providing for regulation of sale of beer and wine in the I Village was also to be considered for adoption. Councilman Stripling presented the ordinance and moved that it be adopted. Councilman Anderson seconded the motion, and upon unanimous vote, the ordinance was adopted. Mr. Arthur Rhodes appeared at the meeting and requested the Village to amend the present ordinance regulating the shooting of firearms in the Village limits, so as to permit a pistol club which was about to be formed, to discharge firearms at a designated range within the Village. Council agreed and Mr. Anderson made a motion to grant North Orlando Pistol Club (temporary name), per- mission to discharge firearms at a designated pistol range within the Village limits of North Orlando, pending preparation of an II ordinance. The motion was seconded by Mr. Memory. . ~T"'~_.~~~ I I .1 e e - Councilman Anderson stated that he had spoken to Mr. ~orris Hale, President of the Orlando Junior College, and he had expressed a desire that a resolution be prepared expressing gratitude and wholehearted acceptance of the university in the Village and willingness to cooperate with the school.
