Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the City Commission establish the Ribbon Cutting/Official Opening of the new Trotwood Park Splash Playground. PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to schedule the Ribbon Cutting/Official Opening of the Trotwood Park Splash Playground. CONSIDERATIONS: • At the March 9, 2009, City Commission meeting Saturday, April 11 was selected for the Grand Opening. However, due to construction difficulty in obtaining the Health Department operational permit, the Grand Opening had to be delayed. The contractor expects that we will have the Health Department permit by May 2, 2009. • Trotwood Park renovations included a new splash playground and pump house, restroom/storage building improvements and an additional pavilion. • Parks and Recreation proposes that the Grand Opening be an opportunity for the public to come see and try out the Splash Playground. Memberships will also be available to purchase at the park on opening day. • The membership fees are as follows: SEMINOLE COUNTY RESIDENT $10 Per Person fora 1 Year Seasonal* Membershi FAMILY RATES 1 member - $10 . 2 or more additional members - $5 each $30 MAXIMUM er Famil NON-RESIDENT SEMINOLE COUNTY $10 Per VISIT Per Person • Parks and Recreation will promote the Ribbon Cutting/Official Opening through a direct mailing (of all users last year, City website, Tuskawilla Today, and news media). Agenda Item Regular 604 April 13, 2009 Page 2 The contractor, BDG will be present and provide all the snacks and soft drinks. Parks and Recreation recommends the Ribbon Cutting/Official Opening be held at any of the following dates/times: o Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10:00 am o Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm Or any date that works for the City Commission after May 2, 2009. RECOMMENDATIONS: The Parks and Recreation Department recommends that the City Commission establish the date and time of the Ribbon Cutting/Official Opening of the Trotwood Park Splash Playground.
