REQUEST: The Chief of Police, City Manager and Mayor requesting the City Commissions
approval of Resolution Number 2009-21 recognizing the retirement of Police Department Officer
Corporal Jose Romero.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is needed to request the City Commission approval of
Resolution Number 2009-21 so that Police Officer Corporal Jose Romero can be presented with
Resolution Number 2009-21 during the Awards and Presentation section of this Regular Meeting.
CONSIDERATIONS: Police Department Officer Corporal Jose Romero's last day of duty was
February 26, 2009. Resolution Number 2009-21 is being submitted during the Consent Agenda of
this meeting for your approval. Then, during the Awards and Presentation section of this Regular
Meeting, the Mayor, City Commission, City Manager, and Police Chief are being respectfully
requested to present this Resolution 2009-21 to Police Officer Jose Romero in honor of his 20 years
of service to the City of Winter Springs and the community.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution
Number 2009-21 in honor of Police Department Officer Corporal Jose Romero.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CTfY COMMISSION OF THE CTfY OF
WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING JOSE ROMERO FOR
HIS 20 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE
CTfY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND EXPRESSING OUR APPRECIATION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CTfY OF WINTER SPRINGS;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
1~HEREAS, JOSE ROMERO has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 20 years of dedicated
and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Police Departments; and
WHEREAS, JOSE ROMERO joined the Winter Springs Police Department in the position of Police
Officer in September 1989, was promoted to Corporal in October, 1998, and has served in that
capacity since; and
WHEREAS, JOSE ROMERO has become known as a recognized voice of the Police Department to the
residents of Winter Springs due to his commendable service that he provided to them over the last 20
years.
NOW THEREFORE, $E IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida as follows:
SECTION I -That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter
Springs takes great pleasure upon the occasion of JOSE ROMERO'S retirement to recognize and honor
him for his uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his
employment in the Winter Springs Police Departments.
SECTION II -That this Resolution commending the services of JOSE ROMERO be recorded
upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida.
SECTION III - That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to JOSE ROMERO with our sincerest
thanks for his many contributions.

CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, IN A REGULAR MEETING
