HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009 03 09 Consent 200 FY 2009-2010 Budget CalendarCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 200 March 9, 2009 Meeting CONSENT X INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR MGR /DEPT Authorization REQUEST: The City Manager is requesting that the City Commission approve the FY 2010 Budget Calendar. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed in order to establish a timeline for the FY 2010 budget process. CONSIDERATIONS: Regarding the Budget Calendar, the most relevant and critical events have been bolded on the Proposed Budget Calendar (attached). There are currently two budget-related workshops scheduled for March 21 S` and March 30`h. These meetings will set the direction and the pace of the FY 2010 budget process. Future workshop dates will be scheduled on an ongoing basis. Budget workshops are anticipated to substantially occur during the months of April, May, and June. Of course, July and August workshops may be convened if further budget refinement is warranted. Presentation of the Preliminary Budget will occur prior to July ls`. This presented budget will be evolving from the workshops to be held April through June and will reflect the Commission consensus generated from those workshops. July 27`h is the last re ularl -scheduled Commission meeting in which to establish the millage cap. September 28`h is the last re ularl -scheduled Commission meeting in which to adopt the budget. FUNDING: N/A RECOMMENDATION: City Manager recommends that the City Commission approve the FY 2010 Budget Calendar.
