REQUEST:
The Police Department is providing information to the City Commission concerning the
implementation of Crime Reports to the citizens.
SYNOPSIS:
On November 9, 2009 the Police Department requested and was granted an expenditure from the
Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund to implement crime data and crime mapping capabilities on
the City website viewable to members of the community. The system (CrimeReports) currently
is published on the city website for crime data to be viewed by the community.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Crime Reports allows community members to view crime data with the ability to search and sort
by type and or date. The system also provides information on Sex Offenders which is provided
by FDLE. Crime Reports also allows the user to sign up for email alerts to be notified of the
crime types within a chosen radius of their residence.
Crime Reports has a free application to iPhone users to access crime data from their mobile
device.
The crime data is accessible from the city website on the Police Department page under Crime
Map. The crime data can be viewed at the following link:

COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
1. Provided a demonstration of the system at the January 2010 Citizens Advisory Committee
meeting. Requested the information to be pass along in HOA newsletters by CAC members.
2. Conducted Press Releases.
3. Informational article in the Police Department's February 2010 issue of the Community
News Letter.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$1,200.00 from the Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund
