C~: l'k(L\041~.' :., Mayor Paul Partyka 1126 East SR 434 Winter Springs, Florida 32708 Dear Mayor Partyka: Once again a small but very vocal minority is trying to force their opinion on the majority. When the truth or simple logic fails, they resort to whatever tactics they need to in order to appear the defender and protector "of all". 1bat minority needs to get a life!! I My husband and I did not move to this community so that we could look at deteriorated landscaping, second rate entrances or street lights that no longer work because they are out dated. If these ammities were not important to us we would live in any nwnber of other communities where the tax base is much less than here in Winter Springs. From what I saw at the town meeting none of those people wore 20 year old cloths and I certainly did not see many 20 year old cars in the parking lot. How hard is it to understand that all things need upgrading and maintained? When we moved here 10 years ago we were told by the realtor that the community would be taking over the expense for maintaining the common areas. 1bat was 10 years ago and we are still looking at the same dead shrubs at our community entrance. It was no surprise to US when we heard about the beautification project and that the residence of Tuscawilla would be paying for the improvements. If this group had put as much effort in to maintaining our common grounds as they have into spreading untruths and recruiting support through scare tactics, there would not have been any maintenance expense. They couid have volunteered their time for the "good of the community. I doubt that any of them ever volunteered a minute of their time to maintain the old fountains. But of course their concern if for the good of the community. If they have any doubt about what happens when property is not properly maintained all they have to do is look back to the country club when it was going through it's problem. Or they can go to a community like Deltona that had no restrictions or maintenance program.. However, it's cheap to live there. Surely they understand that their homes are the single most expensive investment that they will ever make and that investment should be protected. If they feel that less than $9.17 a month is too expensive then maybe they should move to someplace they can better afford Also, if they are so concerned about the expense of the project to the residents, why are they adding to the expense by adding needless legal expenses? Even if they did not like the project it would have been . cheaper to pay the $9.17 a month than incur added legal expenses. They only one that wins in that situation is the lawyer they have hired. For those people who feel that residents living on Winter Springs Blvd. or in the larg~r.homes shobld :'::::,: \;),''- -..,......... > ) . ~:."... ~. " . pay more, I can only say that I will enjoy the landscaping as much as anyone living on the boulvard, or living in one of the larger homes. I will use the same entrances and look at the same landscaping. In regards to the pending Town Center, as long as tltis center is not in fact a strip center but a planned area resembling a town, it can only add to the value of our community. My husband and I want the area maintained the fashion that befits a community that has one of the 10 top golf courses in the state. We want to live in an area that we can take pride in and one that is well maintained For that, we are willing to pay our fair share of the expense. Do not let this small group of radicals and "wannabes" destroy our communi ty. The articles in the recent Tuscawilla Today were informative and a long time in coming. It was time that the majority be informed of the reasons for the delay and be provided the truth about who is delaying the much needed improvements. Please continue to proVide the facts and remember that we have voted on this issue twice and that twice the majority voted for this project to go through. My suggestion would be to pass on the added expense to the people who filed the lawsuit Let them pay for their principals or whatever they are calling their behavior this month. We want to spend our money on landscaping and other improvements. Sincerely, of~~ Linda Cousins 730 Barrington Circle Winter Springs, Florida 32708 " :.;\...." \:1';- .........
