Authorization REQUEST: The City Manager requesting the City Commission to adopt Resolution Number 904 authorizing the Holiday Schedule for the calendar year 2000. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Agenda Item is for the City Commission to authorize the calendar year 2000 Holiday Schedule. CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to the City's Personnel Policy, the City Commission has authorized ten (10) paid holidays per year. In 1999, New Year's Day falls on a Saturday. Most surrounding Cities, as well as the Seminole County Offices, will be closed on Friday, December 31, 1999. Several Financial Institutions are planning to be closed for partial days on Friday, December 31, 1999. Staff agrees that Friday, December 31, 1999 would be an appropriate day to be closed to celebrate the New Year. The City Offices being closed on Friday, December 31, 1999 still maintains the authorized ten (10) paid holidays per year. FUNDING: None Required. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of proposed Resolution 904. ATTACHMENTS: A. COMMISSION ACTION: RESOLUTION NO. ML A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, SUPPLEMENTING THE PERSONNEL POLICY OF THE CITY, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1999. WHEREAS, the Personnel Policy of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, was established by Ordinance No. 153, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 153, it provides that the Personnel Policy of the City may be amended from time to time by adopting a Resolution, and WHEREAS, the City needs to establish Official Holidays for the Calendar Year 1999. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA: SECTION I: That the City of Winter Springs, Florida, hereby supplements the Personnel Policy passed pursuant to Ordinance No. 153, of the City by establishing holidays of the City for the calendar year 1999 as follows: Friday, January 1, 1999 - New Year's Day Monday, February 15, 1999 - President's Day Friday, April 2, 1999- Spring Holiday Monday, May 31, 1999 - Memorial Day Monday, July 5, 1999 - Day after Independence Day Monday, September 6,1999 - Labor Day Thursday, November 25, 1999 - Thanksgiving Day Friday, November 26, 1999 - Day after Thanksgiving Friday, December 24, 199'f- Day Before Christmas Day Employees Birthday Passed and adopted this cfydday of ~~ ,1998.
