REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting the City Commission to
establish the dates and times at Trotwood and Torcaso Parks for official
groundbreaking ceremonies during the month of October for the Parks
Improvement Program,
. PURPOSE: To conduct official groundbreaking ceremonies for the much awaited Parks
Improvement Program.
ISSUE ANALYSIS:
. On August 30, 1999, the City Commission awarded the bid for the Parks Improvement
Program.
· The currently anticipated date of actual park construction is now October 25, 1999.
. It would be appropriate to conduct two (2) official groundbreaking programs to
recognize those directly involved and the public.
FUNDING:
All funds necessary for promotion and the ceremonies will be taken from existing and
budgeted expenditure codes.

RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks and Recreation Department is recommending two (2) official ground breaking
ceremonies. One to be held at Trotwood Park and one to be held at Torcaso Park in the
late afternoon on a dates or dates that all of management and Commission can attend.
IMPLEMENTA TION SCHEDULE:
September 28, 1999
Order Invitations and mail as soon as possible
and promote to media and public and order refreshments.
