HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999 06 14 Consent Item A -' COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM A CONSENT INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR x 6-14-99 Meeting MGR. /DEPT iXuthorization REQUEST: The Finance Department and the Information Services Department is requesting funding in the amount of $11,000 to complete Y2K software upgrades of the Financial, Utility Billing, and Occupational Licenses software packages to make them Y2K compliant. PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to complete the Y2K project for the City's Financial, Utility Billing, and Occupational License software programs. CONSIDERA TIONS: Hardware, operating system, and database engine software considerations have already been addressed and the appropriate upgrades made for Y2K compliancy. The current Y2K updates that yve are requesting funding for will affect several mission critical applications which include the following: Fund Accounting, Purchasing, Utility Billing, Fixed Assets, Human Resources & Occupational Licenses. This includes upgrade and compilation of all applications for Y2K. The fees are for service only as the actual software upgrades are covered under our maintenance agreements. The service portion is not. FUNDING: Funds for this upgrade will come from General Fund Reserves. Page 2 of2 Consent Agenda Item - Request for Additional Funds for application upgrades for Y2K June 14, 1999 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Commission approve the expenditure of $11,000 to complete applications upgrades to Y2K. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: Implementation is to begin on June 28, 1999 if approved by Commission. COMMISSION ACTION:
