PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to assure that the City Commission is informed of all the pertinent details regarding this activity. CONSIDERATIONS: . The donation of blood helps to assure an adequate and safe supply of blood and blood products to the community. . The employees of the City of Winter Springs have for 18 years maintained a blood reserve account with the Central Florida Blood Banle Last year when the bloodmobile scheduled a visit to the City, 66 participants registered for the blood drive, and 53 pints of blood was collected. . Employees are encouraged to donate blood and are given the opportunity to donate during their workday. . Other interested individuals may also donate blood during this scheduled time, and no one will be turned away. This does include elected officials, friends, and neighbors. . The goal for this drive has been set at collecting 60 pints of blood. April12, 1999 Informational Agenda Item "A" Page 2 FUNDING: No additional funding is required for this activity. RECOMMENDATION: DONATE BLOOD ON APRIL 29, 1999 IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The Bloodmobile will be located in front of City Hall from 7:00 AM till 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 29, 1999. ATTACHMENTS: A - "City of Winter Springs Blood Drive Flyer" COMMISSION ACTION: The Bloodmobile will be located in front of City Hall during the listed date and time. Thursday, April 29, 1999 Please schedule your donation time through your Department Supervisor. You are encouraged to take time out of your day to donate blood for a worthy cause. The donation of blood only takes a few minutes and is satisfying to know that YOU may save a life. A goal of 60 donors has been set by the City Management Team, please join with them to make this goal a reality.
