Authorization
REQUEST: City Manager requesting City Commission elect a Commissioner as
Deputy Mayor.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is for the City Commission to elect a
Commissioner as Deputy Mayor.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The City Charter states:
"The Commission shall elect from among its members a deputy mayor
who shall act as mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor, and
if a vacancy occurs, shall become mayor for the remainder of the
unexpired term, or until the first municipal election after the vacancy
occurs, whichever occurs first."
The Commission annually elects a member of the Commission as its
Deputy Mayor. Commissioner McLeod is currently the City's Deputy
Mayor.
FUNDING: None
REcOMMENDA TIONS:
It is recommended that the City Commission elect from among its
members a Deputy Mayor.
