Authorization ( June 9, 1997 REQUEST: Fire Department requesting authorization to assign the current contract for Billing Services for the Emergency Medical Transport System to Regional Emergency Services, L.P.. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Commission item is to gain Commission authority to assign the current contract as requested for Billing Services provided by Medical Compliance, Inc., to Regional Emergency Services, L.P., and to request authorization for the City Manager to enter into a service agreement with Regional Emergency Services, L.P. for Billing Services for the Emergency Medical Transport System for the same terms and agreement. CONSIDERA TIONS: Medical Compliance, Inc. has provided the Billing Services for the Emergency Medical Transport System since approved by the City Commission on October 14, 1996. Medical Compliance, Inc. has signed a letter of intent to merge as one company with Regional Emergency Services, L.P. and requests that the City of Winter Springs assign the contract of Emergency Medical Services billing to Regional Emergency Services, L.P. d.b.a. Medical Compliance, Inc.. The Fire Chief has been informed that this merger will result in better services to the City of Winter Springs for the same terms and agreements as previously approved by the City Commission. June 9, 1997 Consent Agenda Item" A" Page 2 Medical Compliance, Inc. also provides like services to the Cities of Altamonte Springs, Longwood, and Winter Park, these entities have also been asked to assign their contracts to Regional Emergency Services, L.P., 141 Waterman Avenue, Mount Dora, Florida 32757. FUNDING: No additional funding for this service is requested. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Manager be authorized to enter into a service agreement with Regional Emergency Services, L.P. for Billing Services for the Emergency Medical Transport System at a cost of 5.5% of the collected amount. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The agreement would be executed upon approval. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Letter dated May 12, 1997 from Medical Compliance, Inc. 2.
