HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997 05 12 Regular Item B COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM B REGULAR X CONSENT INFORMATIONAL May 12. 1997 Meeting MGJW~/DEPT. ~ Authorization REQUEST: The General Services Department requests that the City Commission declare the attached list of equipment as surplus, and authorize the City Manager to contract with George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc., to auction the surplus property for the City. PURPOSE: The purpose of this request is to allow the City Commission to approve the attached surplus equipment list, and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc., to auction the surplus property for the City. CONSIDERA TIONS: 1. The above-referenced auction will be held June 14, 1997 at one of two locations, the Sanford Airport, or the Casselberry Kennel Club. 2. The City will "piggy back" off the Seminole County School Board contract with George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc. 3. There are currently nine (9) other cities, and the Sanford Airport Authority contracting with George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc., to participate in this auction. May 12, 1997 AGENDA ITEM Page 2 4. George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc. will receive as commission for their servIces: * * 7 percent of the sale price of all titled vehicles. 10 percent of the sale price of all miscellaneous non-titled equipment. 5. Sale proceeds will be collected by the auctioneer, and will be forwarded to the City within ten (10) days. ISSUES: 1. Does the City Commission desire to declare the attached list surplus? 2. Does the City Commission desire to auction the attached list of equipment? FUNDING: There are no funding requirements for this agenda item. RECOMMENDA TION: That the City Commission: 1.) Approve the attached list of property as surplus. 2.) Authorize the City Manger to contract with George Gideon Auctioneers, Inc. to auction the attached list of surplus property for the City. IMPLEMENTATION: The contract will be executed by the City Manager immediately upon approval by the City Commission. The sale will occur June 14, 1997, and proceeds (less commission) will be turned over to the City within ten (10) days. May 12, 1997 AGENDA ITEM Page 3 ATTACHMENTS: I.
