REQUEST: Community Development Department requesting a reading and a public hearing to
adopt an emergency Ordinance 657 extending to April 30, 1997 the moratorium
on the construction and/or erection of any Telecommunication Towers in the City..
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Board Item is to allow the City additional time to resolve certain
issues relating to Telecommunication Towers siting and the make additional changes
requested by the City Commission
CONSIDERATIONS:
1. The City Commission held a workshop on the draft Telecommunication Towers
Ordinance # 645 on March 17, 1997 and directed staff make certain changes to the
draft as presented at that workshop.
2. Ordinance # 657 is needed to prevent application approval and erection of
Telecommunication Towers during this moratorium period.
3. Emergency Ordinance # 646 expires on March 30, 1997.
ISSUE ANALYSIS:
This emergency ordinance will extend for thirty (30) days to April 30, 1997 the prohibition
on approval or erection of any Telecommunication Towers in the City. This moratorium
will not apply to the repair and maintenance of existing Telecommunication Towers within
the City.

FUNDING:
This Ordinance does not require an expenditure.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve Ordinance No. 657.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
This Ordinance takes effect upon passage in accordance with Florida law.
