PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to assure that the City Commission is informed of all the pertinent details regarding this activity. CONSIDERATIONS: · The donation of blood helps to assure an adequate and safe supply of blood and blood products to the community. · The employees of the City of Winter Springs have for 16 years maintained a blood reserve account with the Central Florida Blood Bank. Last year when the bloodmobile scheduled a visit to the City, 75 participants registered for the blood drive, and 62 pints of blood was collected. · Employees are encouraged to donate blood and are given the opportunity to donate during their work day. · Other interested individuals may also donate blood during this scheduled time, and no one will be turned away. This does include elected officials, friends, and neighbors. · The goal for this drive has been set for 80 registered participants. FUNDING: No additional funding is required for this activity. v March 24, 1997 Regular Agenda Item G Page 2 RECOMMENDATION: GIVE BLOOD IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The Bloodmobile will be located behind City Hall from 7:00 AM till 3:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 1997. A TTACBMENTS: A - "City of Winter Springs Blood Drive Flyer" COMMISSION ACTION: y City of Winter Springs Blood Drive The Bloodmobile will be located behind City Hall during the listed date and time. Friday, April 18, 1997 7 am - 3 pm Please schedule your donation time through your Department Supervisor. You are encouraged to take time out of your day to donate blood for a worthy cause. The donation of blood only takes a few minutes and is satisfying to know that YOU may save a life. A goal of 80 donors has been set by the City Management Team, please join with them to make this goal a reality.
