W1 /DEFT tflJ; Authorization f REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department requests that the Commission accept a gift of furnishings and equipment from the Winter Springs Senior Corporation, Inc. for use in the Winter Springs Senior Center. PURPOSE: The purpose of this request is to recognize this gift as a symbol of appreciation from the Seniors to the Commission and to accept the furnishings and equipment as public property. Please see list of items attached. CONSIDERA nONS: . The City does not charge the Seniors for use of the Center. The Seniors, in turn, create fund raising activities for themselves and guests from which proceeds go back to Center improvements. . The list included herein (See Attachment #1) is a basis for new inventory. All materials and furnishings have been inspected and found to be in the condition stated on the inventory list. ISSUE ANALYSIS: . The City accepting this donation is simply formalizing the obvious in that all items are now and have been in the Center and regularly used by the Seniors. . The donation by the Senior Corporation is necessary for the Corporation tax exempt status. 'i Page 2 Agenda Item-Senior Inventory March 10,1997 RECOMMENDATION: . The Parks and Recreation Department recommends that the Commission accept the donation of furnishings and equipment from Winter Springs Senior Corporation, Inc. valued at $11,505.00 for use at the Senior Center. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: . Inventory is filed with the City Clerk and the Department. Upon conclusion of Commission action the Clerk will give receipt as appropriate.
