REQUEST: City Clerk requests the City Commission to establish procedures on
appointment/reappointment of Board Members.
/'
PURPOSE: To solicit Commission direction relative to establishing procedures on the
appointment/appointment of Board Members.
ISSUES:
In August 1995 the Commission directed the City Clerk to notify Board Members two
months prior to their term expiration, so that the Board Member could contact the
Commissioner as to their decision if they wanted to continue serving on the Board.
(Both the Commissioner and Board Member were informed in writing)
The Clerk's Office has been advising the Board Member as to their term expiration
and asking for their response in writing, then forwarding the response to the
respective Commissioner.
CONSIDERATION:
Does the Commission want to continue the notification procedure as stated above; or
Would the Commission rather be notified of the term expiration of the Board Member
and that Commissioner contact the Board Member of their decision to reappoint or
terminate the Board Member?
Does the Commission want the Clerk's Office to notify the Board Member in writing
of their reappointment or termination?
RECOMMENDATION:
Provide the Clerk's Office with direction relative to the Commissions desired
procedures for making appointments and reappointments to Boards and Commissions.
