Bush, Mayor City of Winter Springs 1128 East S.R. 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708 Dear Mayor Bush: WINTER SPRINGS EIRE DEPARTMENT. On June 9 of this year, I returned to Winter Springs to practice softball with a group of Over-50 softball players at the Winter Springs softball field. This weekly practice has been an ritual for several years, and I try to attend when I am in the area. RECEIVED &e;~:J ,.. 1 ~;",,:.("'~ =~ J '1.1 !;j~\J During this practice, I suffered sudden death syndrome. Fortunately, several of the ball players were trained in CPR. One of my friends ran to call 911. In a matter of a few minutes, the Winter Springs Emergency unit responded. Using a defibrillator, they 'Nere able to save my life, and then rushed me to the local hospital. I would like to take this opportunity to commend all of the EMTs who 'Nere present at the field. In particular, Wayne Riggle. who used to be my neighbor when 'Ne lived in Winter Springs, took extremely good care of my needs. He and Brian Melvin 'Nere instrumental in recognizing the two people who applied CPR at a ceremony in Winter Springs last week. Also, I would like to applaud the efforts of Winter Springs in continuing to provide excellent emergency medical service. Without their prompt response, I wouldn't be writing this letter. When I lived in Winter Springs, several of my neighbors had occasion to use this service, and they all had very good comments. My thanks to all .....mo participated in the life-saving efforts I received, and to the City of Winter Springs for providing an excellent quality emergency service. Sincerely, Norman N.
