IDEPT0.U Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting the Commission review the results of the Trotwood Park Neighborhood Workshop meeting which was hosted at the Civic Center on Tuesday evening, May 21, 1996, PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to provide the Commission updated information relative to the Trotwood Park Master planning process which will consist of three (3) or four (4) neighborhood workshops. CONSIDERATIONS: The first Trotwood Neighborhood Workshop was attended by seventeen (17) residents on May 21, 1996. Those attending were: J01m Wells Mary Ann Meyer Shelly M. (See attachment #l-May 21,1996 Workshop Agenda. * The attendees were broken down into two (2) groups and participated in the following planning exercises: A. Identification and listing on charts of all existing park users, such as: Soccer Players Baseball Players Dog Walkers B. Existing conditions were reviewed with the groups which entailed identifying the various existing amenities at the park, i.e. (2) basketball courts, (2) racquetball courts, etc. C. Identification and listing on charts the issues and concerns of the attendees regarding the park, such as: Park drainage by homes Errant soccer balls going into backyards Maintaining "natural state" of park Maintaining "open vista" state of park Illegal uses of park at night D. Brainstorming, identification and listing on charts the proposed needs, amenities and programs desired for the park, such as: Dog walk area Nahlre programs Restroom replacement Lake cleanup * The workshop concluded with the participants conducting a "Concepts Exercise" in which the group worked on survey plat sheets and arranged scaled templets in various locations throughout the park for the purpose of deciding "what would function and what would not function" in relationship to size and available/conducive locations. * We feel the fust workshop was a tremendous success toward building trust and confidence with the community and the participants appeared to be " . their suggestions, ideas and input were solicited and given consideration. They thoroughly are enjoying the process and know that they are the process. FUNDING: N/A RECOMMENDA TION: No recommendation is to be made at this time. There are to be at least two (2) more workshops scheduled in order to complete the Master planning process. CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS Parks and Recreation Department TROTWOOD PARK-NEIGHBORHOOD WORKSHOP NOTICE AND INFORMATION The City of Winter Springs Parks and Recreation Depmtment wishes to announce that it is hosting tJu'ee neighborhood workshop meetings for the purpose of soliciting public input and assistance in the master planning of Trotwood Park. Winter Springs residents interested in assisting with this effort are invited. The first meeting will address setting of project goals and objectives and receipt of public programming input. The workshop is scheduled as follows: WHEN: Tuesday May 21,1996 7:00pm WHERE: Civic Center Facility at Sunshine Park 400 North Edgemon Avenue Winter Springs, Florida 32708 The second meeting will be held to present and review the alternatives mld concepts developed at the initial meeting.
