PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to update the City Commission on the results of this activity held on Friday, April 19, 1996, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm at City Hall. CONSIDERATIONS: · The donation of blood helps to assure an adequate and safe supply of blood and blood products to the community. · The employees of the City of Winter Springs have for over 15 years maintained a blood reserve account with the Central Florida Blood Bank. Each time the bloodmobile has scheduled a visit to the City, over 25 pints of blood have been collected. · Employees were encouraged to donate blood and were given the opportunity to donate during their work day. · The goal for this drive was set for 75 donors. · The Central Florida Blood and Tissue Bank informs that most donor sites attract approximately 10 percent of the employees. 0' RESULTS: · 75 participants registered for the blood drive, and 62 pints of blood was collected. · Of the 203 current Full Time City Employees over 36% attempted to donate blood. . 29 participants were first time donors. · This has been the most successful Blood Drive to date, previously the most registered to donate was 47, with 41 pints of blood collected. FUNDING: No additional funding was required for this activity. RECOMMENDATION: None. Informational use only. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The next scheduled Bloodmobile visit will be on Friday, August 23, 1996. ATTACHMENTS: A - "Blood Drive Participants List" COMMISSION ACTION: .
