':':~ ~ ... ..:.......: ~ '" , .Q90 Il e ~ ~ , .,~ ~, - . -. ~ ~CLARATIO~ in Support of "Just Say No" to Drugs Week May 9 through May 13, 1988 and Red Ribbon Day May 11, 1988 the abuse of drugs and alcohol in this country continues to pose a serious threat to the health, safety, welfare, and well-being of children, youth and adults: and drug abuse is a problem of gigantic proportions among our children, youth and adults, touching every segment of society, affecting~families and individuals from all walks of life; and it is the responsibility of the entire community to become involved in the fight to combat drug and alcohol abuse; and, many groups have organized to assist in helping others to become aware of the extent and nature of this devastating problem; and the "Just Say No" movement is a national campaign which is intended to assist in preventing and reversing the use of drugs in schools and communities, Similarly, Red Ribbon Day is intended to be a day of awareness wherein all community members, along with our students, are being asked to wear red ribbons to highlight the need to prevent the abuse of drugs and alcohol; that Winter Springs, in conjunction with other governmental bodies, agencies, organizations, and businesses, hereby declares MAY 9 THROUGH MAY 13, 1988 AS "JUST SAY NO" TO DRUGS WEEK and MAY 11, 1988 AS RED RIBBON DAY and urges all Winter Springs personnel, students, parents, and all citizens and residents of Seminole County to join in this campaign to combat the substance abuse problem which is plaguing our county, state and nation, DECLARED ON RED RIBBON DAY, MAY 11, 1988. ~ '!l1.~ Signature of th Mayor
