HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982 05 01 May as Older Americans Month TELEPHONE (305) 327.1800 e e WINTER SPRINGS, FLORWA ZIP CODE 32707 PRO C LAM A T ION WHEREAS, love, respect and admiration for the aged have always been basic philosophical principles of Western civilization; and WHEREAS, the senior citizens of the State of Florida have for many years contributed to our moral, economic and social well-being; and WHEREAS, Florida, as a state, feels a deep sense of appreciation for the guidance and leadership provided by its senior citizens; and WHEREAS, the senior citizens have worked long and hard to build our country, to realize their dreams, to give their children a better world in which to live; and WHEREAS, the contributions of our older Americans and their efforts have resulted in the growth and prosperity of our society, at both the state and national level; and WHEREAS, it is a tribute to the ingenuity and initiative of senior citizens that they have organized several great associations to meet the problems of age and change; and WHEREAS, we hold the senior citizens of our society in respect and affection; and WHEREAS, traditionally the Nation has observed Senior Citizens Month during May with the support of State and national communities, organiza- tions and other groups; NOW, THEREFORE, I, TROY J. PIL&~D, MAYOR of the CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, do hereby proclaim May 1982 as OLDER ~1ERICANS MONTH in Florida and do urge all Floridians to work toward the ultimate goal of making and declining years to the elderly truly golden.
