HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982 02 21-27 Engineer's Week '" II 1- . e PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, engineering plays a significant role in the growth and development of Central Florida's Cities, industry, communications and transportation; and WHEREAS, engineers through the practical and economic application of nature's forces and materials help make this area of Florida a better place in which to live and work; and WHEREAS, engineers have demonstrated their dedication to protecting the safety, health and welfare of their professional duties; and WHEREAS, engineers utilize their special knowledge and expertise to plan, design, construct, and maintain improvements to man's environment; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the engineering profession be honored during the week we will celebrate the birthday of George Washington, one of the country's first and most famous engineers; and WHEREAS, during the week members of the National Society of Pro- fessional Engineers and the Florida Engineering Society in Central Florida Chapter, will sponsor activities focusing attention on the engineering pro- fession; NOW, THEREFORE, I, TROY J. PILAND, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, do hereby proclaim the week of FEBRUARY 21 - 27, 1982, as ENGINEER'S WEEK in Winter Springs, Florida, and urge that special recognition be given the achievements of the engineering profession and its individual members. As stated in the past, Engineers Week is celebrated allover our land during the last week of February, to salute the profession for its involvement in our nation's continued development. This year's theme is "Engineers Pioneering America's Revitalization". During this special week, outstanding engineers are honored and engineering advances put on public display throughout the country. On behalf of the Engineers Week Committee of the Florida Chapter and in commemoration and honor of the engineering profession, I respect- fully request the attached Proclamation and one copy be properly exe- cuted. Please return one with gold Seal and ribbons for use on pub- lic display. The engineers also respectfully request that a copy of your Proclama- tion be displayed prominently during Engineers Week and that it be in- cluded in local press coverage wherever possible. Our official copy will be on display at the Engineering Fair at the University of Central Florida, February 26 and 27, and at the Engineers Week Banquet at Lord Chumley's, Route 436, Altamonte Springs, the evening of February 27, 1982.
