Piland 102 North Moss Road Winter Springs, Florida 32707 Dear Mayor Piland: In response to President Carter's challenge, the City of Orlando, Florida in cooperation with the National Alliance of Businessmen, actively has been finding jobs for some of the over 3,500 unemployed Vietnam Era Veterans in Central Florida. To this end, a Mayor's Veterans' Employment Task Force was appointed consisting of representatives from the business and governmental sectors of the Community. To date over 422 veterans and 38 disabled veterans have been placed in jobs as a result of the Task Force's efforts. On April 25, 1978, the principal event of this group's efforts will be held. Designated as "Hire A Vietnam Veteran Day" this event will be held in Exposition Park in Downtown Orlando. Employers with present and future job openings will meet with veterans for the purposes of employment. We would appreciate it if you and your City Council would proclaim April 25, 1978, as "Hire A Vietnam Veteran Day" in your City. We feel that the support of everyone in Central Florida is needed to assist these young men in becoming productive citizens in our communities. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Sincerely, ~ Carl T. Langford Mayor CTL:cd
