Authorization REQUEST: Information Services requests authorization to move forward with SAN (Storage Area Network) project in the amount of $19,881 with AsysTech Incorporated. PURPOSE: To obtain authorization to move forward with SAN (Storage Area Network) project in the amount of $19,881 with AsysTech Incorporated. CONSIDERATIONS: Information Services is preparing and planning for the data storage needs of the City and the many users of the City's network. A SAN (Storage Area Network) is an array of disks or tapes on a network to provide a central location for data storage. This central repository of data appears to be directly attached to the computer. The SAN may be located on the same network as the server or across geographical distances if need be. With the utilization of a SAN, Information Services is positioning itself to be prepared for the many data challenges facing the City. Of primary concern is the ability to provide disaster recovery and business continuity to the City and its various departments. With the addition of the SAN module a greater degree of recovery and continuity can be achieved. The equipment is available on GSA Contract# GS-35F-4342D.
