PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request authorization for the execution of Supplement No.1 to Amendment 43 for Northern Way Bridge Repair Construction Administration Services with Conklin, Porter & Holmes Engineers, Inc. at a cost of $3,751.00. CONSIDERATIONS: This supplement is needed to provide construction administration services for the repairs to the Northern Way bridge over Bear Creek. The City does not have the staff for full construction administration nor the expertise for bridge structural repair reviews and this service has been historically contracted out. The scope of work includes preconstruction and progress meetings, shop drawing review, periodic inspections, pay request processing, and record drawings. The design ofthis project was previously authorized under Amendment 43 at a cost of$13,OOO.OO. The project construction contract is recommended to be awarded to Seig & Ambachtsheer, Inc. at a cost of $48,925.00. Construction is scheduled to begin around November 15, 1997 with completion in 90 days. The source of funds would be the consulting services line code (104-53180) ofthe Transportation Improvement Fund. Funds would be expended in 90 days. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that authorization be given for the execution of Supplement No. 1 to Amendment 43 for Northern Way Bridge Repair Construction Administration Services with Conklin, Porter & Holmes Engineers, Inc. at a cost of$3,751.00 payable from the Transportation Improvement Fund consulting engineering line code (104-53180). WHEREAS, the CITY and ENGINEER have preyiou~ly entered into an Agreement for the ENGINEER'S professional services (Amendment No. 43); and WHEREAS, the CITY and ENGINEER shall refer to Amendment 43 herein, and desire to have it incorporated by reference; and WHEREAS, the CITY now wishes to authorize Construction Administration Services. No additions, alterations, or variations to the terms of this Supplement shall be valid, nor can the provisions of this supplement be waived by either party, unless such additions. alterations, or waivers are expressly set forth in writing in a document of imporl equal to Amendment 43 or the Supplement, and duly executed. We have estimated two (2) hours per visit, 4) Check and approve shop drawings, illustrations, calculations, etc., required as part of the project for conformance with the contract documents. 5) Prepare routine Change Orders, if an)'. 6) Review Pay Reque~ls. 7) Participate in substantial completion inspection and generate a punch list. 8) Parlicipatc in the Final inspection. 9) Furnish the OWNER a set of reproducible record drawings for the consullction contract based on observations and information provided by the Contractor. 10) Furnish copies of plans and specifications to the Contractor for use during the work.
