" NOTICE PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED TRANSFER OF PROPERTY OWNERSHIP AND MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LANDS ABUTTING FRUlTWOOD LAKE May 24, 2005 7:00 PM Winter Springs City Hall You are invited to a public meeting held by the City of Winter Springs regarding the proposed transfer of property ownership and maintenance responsibility for the City-owned lands surrounding Fruitwood Lake. The meeting will be held on May 24th at 7:00 PM in the Winter Springs City Hall City Commission chambers. The City has maintained the area around Fruitwood Lake for 15 years or more (see map attached). This area was platted to the City in 1974. The City has been accessing the lake for maintenance through two existing drainage easements, both of which were fenced off about five years ago. The City regularly mows the area surrounding the lake as part of the City's contract mowing service. Due to the general public having no access to this area, the difficulty of its maintenance for the City, and the lack of any public purpose for these lands, the City would like to pursue granting this property to the abutting residents while retaining an easement over the lake. At the February 14, 2005 City Commission meeting, the Commission authorized the City's Public Works Staff to meet with the residents abutting Fruitwood Lake to discuss the potential transfer of property ownership. The purpose of the initial Public Meeting on May 24th is to meet with the affected residents and explore the level of interest and potential solutions to equitably dividing the City property. Please plan on attending so concerns you may have can be addressed or input can be documented. If you are unable to attend, but would like to still provide input, please contact Brian Fields, P .E., City Engineer, (407-327-7597). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian or myself. Kipton Lockcuff, P .E. Utility/Public Works Director Cc: City Manager Mayor/City Commission
