HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017 06 12 Consent 303 Resolution 2017-02, Retirement of Paula NunneryCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 303 Informational Consent X Public Hearings Regular June 12, 2017 KS MB Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: Parks and Recreation Department requests that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2017 -02 recognizing the retirement of Parks Department employee Paula Nunnery. SYNOPSIS: The City Commission is very appreciative of all the employees who faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long - serving employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same City Commission meeting during "Awards and Presentations" or attends a future City Commission meeting to receive their Resolution. Resolution Number 2017 -02 is thus presented to recognize the retirement of Lead Maintenance Worker Paula Nunnery. CONSIDERATIONS: Paula joined the City of Winter Springs Parks & Recreation Department as a maintenance worker on August 4, 1994. In 2003, Paula was promoted to lead maintenance worker and was responsible for field operations and set up for over 16 different soccer, baseball, football, softball and frisbee fields at Central Winds Park. Paula's last day will be July 28, 2017. She will be caring for her father and enjoying time fishing & golfing. Resolution 2017 -02 is being submitted as a consent agenda for Commission approval. Then, Consent 303 PAGE 1 OF 2 -June 12, 2017 during the awards presentation on July 10, regular meeting, the resolution will be presented to Paula for her 24 years of service to the City of Winter Springs. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2017 -02 is approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media /Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Commission approve Resolution number 2017 -02 in honor of employee Paula Nunnery and her 24 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. WHEREAS, PAULA NUNNERY has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 24 years of dedicated and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Parks and Recreation Department; and WHEREAS, PAULA NUNNERY joined the City of Winter Springs on August 4, 1994 as a maintenance worker; and WHEREAS, PAULA NUNNERY became Lead Maintenance Worker and was responsible for field operations and set up over 16 different soccer, baseball, softball and frisbee fields at Central Winds Park; and WHEREAS, PAULA NUNNERY has shown great commitment and pride in working for the City of Winter Springs for the past 24 years. WOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: SECTION I — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon the occasion of PAULA NUNNERY'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor her for her uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through her employment in the Winter Springs Parks and Recreation Department. SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of PAULA NUNNERY be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION III — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to PAULA NUNNERY with our sincerest thanks for his many contributions.
