The City's generators would not be required to be retrofitted to the new standards except for the fact that we are participating in the curtailable power program. We estimate that the payback is less than four years to upgrade the emissions and remain in the Duke energy program. Quotes were solicited from Caterpillar ( Ringpower) and Cummins - the two main generator companies in the US. Cummins quote was $98,130.66 and the Ringpower quote was $75,203.50. However, Ringpower declined to include the removal, disposal, and replacement of the current insulation. Staff recommends using Cummins for this work based on their responsiveness and completeness of the quote. No disruption of wastewater service is anticipated during this project which should be completed within two weeks of commencement. FISCAL IMPACT: The project cost is $98,130.66 plus a 10% contingency funded by the Utility Enterprise Fund Capital Improvements line code. This project was budgeted at $80K and available funds from other projects will be transferred to cover the increased cost.
