HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017 02 13 Consent 300 Refurbishment of Lift Station #6 WestCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 300 REQUEST: Informational Consent X Public Hearings Regular February 13, 2017 KS KL Regular Meeting City Manager Department The Utility Department requesting authorization to utilize Danus Utilities Inc. for the replacement of the discharge piping and valves, pump rails and bypass valves for lift station #6 West in the amount of $52,018.00 plus a 10% contingency. SYNOPSIS: This project consists of replacing all 6" piping with HDPE, replace all fittings, temporary line stop to maintain service, plug valves, check valves, shut off valves and bypass pumping at Lift station #6 West in Wildwood. A lift station has two pumps that convey wastewater collected via a gravity sewer system to the wastewater treatment facility. CONSIDERATIONS: This project is needed to replace the valves and piping at Lift Station #6W located in the Wildwood subdivision. This lift station was constructed in approximately 1983. The City owns and operates 44 lift stations throughout the City. Lift stations operate in a highly corrosive environment which deteriorates the components of the lift station. Consent 300 PAGE 1 OF 3 - February 13, 2017 Quotes were solicited for this work and they were Central Florida Lift Stations (CFL) - $50,120, Danus Utilities - $52,018 and Utility Technicians - declined to quote. Both Danus and CFL has satisfactorily performed lift station work for the City in the past, however, CFL was just awarded a lift station refurb from the City and Danus can schedule this critical work sooner. No disruption of wastewater service is anticipated during this project which should be completed within two weeks of commencement. FISCAL IMPACT: The project cost is $52,018.00 plus a 10% contingency funded by the Utility Enterprise Fund Capital Improvements line code. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested Consent 300 PAGE 2 OF 3 - February 13, 2017 individuals. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Commission authorize Danus Utilities to perform the valve and piping replacements needed at Lift Station #6W in the amount of $52,018.00 plus a 10% contingency payable from the Utility Enterprise Fund Capital Improvements line code and authorize the City Manager and City Attorney to prepare and execute any and all applicable documents.
