Home My WebLink About2016 08 08 Consent 302 Lift Station Panel ReplacementCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 302 Informational Consent X Public Hearings Regular August 08, 2016 KS KL Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The Utility Department requesting authorization to purchase two wastewater lift station control panels from Stacon Inc. in the amount of $51,856.00 plus a 10% contingency. SYNOPSIS: This project consists of replacing the control panels for lift stations 1W and 5E. A lift station has two pumps that convey wastewater collected via a gravity sewer system to the wastewater treatment facility and a control panel contains all the electronics to operate the lift station. CONSIDERATIONS: This project is needed to replace the control panels for two of the City's larger wastewater lift stations; 1W on Cory Lane and 5E which is adjacent to Winter Springs Boulevard across from Tuscawilla Greens. Both stations have two 20 HP pumps and the control panels have deteriorated to the point that their reliability may be compromised. Both panels are approximately 20 years old. The City owns and operates 44 lift stations throughout the City. These two lift stations whose control panels we have targeted for replacement are considered critical to the wastewater operation due to the large areas they serve. Lift stations operate in a highly corrosive environment which deteriorates the components within the station. Consent 302 PAGE 1 OF 3 - August 08, 2016 The panels include; stainless steel enclosure, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controller, alarms, generator receptacle, and surge protection. Two other quotes were received; Rocha Controls - $83,278 and Xylem - $60,720. No disruption of wastewater service is anticipated during this project which should be completed in one day after the panels are received. FISCAL IMPACT: The project cost is $51,856.00 plus a 10% contingency funded by the Utility Enterprise Fund Capital Improvements line code. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals.
